Starting signal for AIAMO
The official go-ahead was given by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BMDV) on 13.09.2023. AIAMO - Artificial Intelligence and Mobility is being funded by the BMDV with a total of 16.7 million euros as part of the AI innovation initiative. We were in Berlin to receive the official funding certificates.
The initiative to promote sustainable mobility through artificial intelligence (AI) is an important step towards making mobility more environmentally friendly and efficient.
Federal Digital Minister Dr. Volker Wissing:
„AI can make our traffic smoother, safer and more efficient. With smart applications, we can optimize traffic lights, increase the capacity utilization of public transport or bring autonomous driving services onto the road. In this way, we can make traffic more climate-friendly. The prerequisite for this is the availability of data and its evaluation in real time. 11,000 German municipalities are sitting on an enormous treasure trove of data. With the AIAMO project, we are helping them to tap into this treasure trove in order to develop tailor-made, environmentally friendly mobility services for their citizens.“
AIAMO strives for data-sovereign information acquisition by networking the mobility carriers. Data collection in the field of mobility is to be simplified so that clear conclusions can be drawn with regard to environmentally oriented and multimodal mobility management. Research results are provided by a networked integration zone using trustworthy AI-supported applications. The special feature here is the focus on easy market access for SMEs and a large number of cities. The project is scheduled to run for three years.
Markus Wartha, President of ITS Germany e.V., consortium leader:
„AIAMO aims to simplify data collection and use for local authorities in order to better network modes of transport. We want to optimize access to data sources and thus promote the development of new, environmentally friendly mobility solutions in municipalities. In the data integration zone project, we will develop a solution with which decentralized environmental, traffic and mobility data can be prepared and processed with the help of AI.“
We would like to thank the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport for this important initiative and look forward to a successful collaboration with our partners!
