9 June 2026: How can the benefits of AI-supported mobility solutions be objectively demonstrated? Katrin Scholz and Volker Kraft from the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML address this question in the latest article in the AIAMO AI series, published in the March issue of Straßenverkehrstechnik (03/2026).

As part of the AIAMO research project, Fraunhofer IML is developing a scientifically sound methodology for analysing the impact of AI-supported mobility solutions. At its heart is a specially developed KPI tree that systematically links strategic objectives, areas of action and measurable key performance indicators (KPIs). This makes it possible to measure the impacts on traffic flow, the environment, data quality and user acceptance in a transparent and objective manner.

The article demonstrates how robust indicators help to provide verifiable evidence of impacts, highlight conflicting objectives and ensure that municipal decisions are based on sound data. At the same time, it establishes a transferable methodology that enables AI-supported mobility solutions to be evaluated in a comparable manner in other cities and regions.
